During the Virtual GrindShow on 19 March 2020, customers and interested parties were able to experience our trade fair highlights for the first time in the comfort of their office or home. More than eight hours of live streaming, a total of eight live demos in two languages and around 120 viewers: The Agathon team and organizers draw a positive conclusion.

Unusual situations require creative solutions: Agathon AG would have presented this year’s machine, product and service highlights at the GrindTec from 18 to 21 March 2020 in Augsburg. In fact, due to the global spread of the corona virus, the world’s leading trade fair for grinding technology has been postponed to November 10 to 13. It was necessary to quickly find another way, since waiting until autumn was out of the question for Agathon.

As usual, only first-class solutions were up for discussion. Agathon was also able to prove that the future is the present in the field of digital communication. CEO Michael Merkle says: «Agathon, which means technology at its best – both in products and in the use of digital communication. These technical possibilities have never been as important as they are today». From this situation, the Virtual GrindShow was set up within a very short time. This enabled customers and interested parties to experience the Agathon trade fair highlights via livestream in the comfort of their office or from home on 19 March 2020.

The goal was also to achieve personal communication in digital form: In the live chat, the Agathon exhibition team was available for all questions and concerns regarding the Agathon product portfolio. With a welcoming statement and their closing words, CEO Michael Merkle and CTO Dr. Stephan Scholze also spoke live to the viewers.

Special highlights were the live demos of two Agathon top products: Evo Quinto the 5-axis grinding machine, which impresses with almost unlimited flexibility when machining complex geometries, and Neo with automation, with which the effective machining time of superhard materials is reduced by up to 40% thanks to laser preprocessing. Stephan Scholze comments: «Automation for our Neo already extends productive laser preprocessing to large production batches». In addition, the market launch of Evo Quinto is gradually approaching. «Evo Quinto will undergo the most thorough tests in our technology center and soon in production», explains Stephan Scholze. At the Virtual GrindShow the Agathon experts gave interested viewers an insight into the functionality and advantages of both machines in various demos.

To Agathon’s delight, the event was a great success and to the complete satisfaction of all participants. More than eight hours of streaming were spent. About 120 people from over 11 countries joined in. At the same time we are now looking forward to welcoming our customers again personally at the GrindTec 2020 from November 10 to 13.
